Photoshop has numerous features that make making such effects easier, but GIMP is not a waste it also has the same awesome capabilities just waiting to be tapped.
So let me shut up and start on with the tutorial. A video version will be upload soon enough.
For the written version just follow along:
1. Open an Image in GIMP.Locate The Image on Your Computer |
2. Click On Channels next to the layers tab. Or open it by going into Windows>Dockable Windows>Channels. And select Red.
Select Red In the Channel Dialog |
3. Goto Filters>Distorts>Ripple.
Goto Ripple Effect |
4. Use the following settings in Ripple. And hit OK.
Use the above settings |
5. And you are done. Add some Noise by Filters>Noise>HSV Noise. And you have an awesome looking glitch effect. You might also edit the levels to add the washed out image effect. But make sure that the Red Channel was deselected first.
Add HSV Noise a couple of times on default or play with the settings a little |
